Background and Context
Also called Otey View, it is a point on the "Perimeter Trail" for hikers on the University of the South campus. It was named for James Hervey Otey (1800-1863), one of the three founding bishops of the University of the South, first Chancellor of the institution, lifelong defender of slavery, and owner of enslaved persons.
Physical Description
A scenic overlook on the edge of the South Cumberland Plateau on the campus of the University of the South. The spot looks westward to Preston Hollow in the valley below.
