Annie M. Lowery, former Davidson College employee, beloved community member, and family matriarch, died on February 5, 2025, at the age of 97. Her wake and funeral services were held at Davidson Presbyterian Church, where she was a lifelong member. Surviving family, friends, and Davidson College community members celebrated her long-life and legacy at the well-attended services. W. H. Bryant, A. E. Grier and Sons Funeral Home assisted with the service and burial at Christian Aid Society Cemetery. She is buried next to Louis Gene Lowery, her husband who proceeded her in death.
The memorial is a smooth granite bench with two flanking urns on the either side. The top of bench is a dark smooth top on a light gray base. Lowery is inscribed on the seat. On one side of the bench, Louis G. May 27, 1922-Sept.1, 2002 is inscribed on the left. A colored photographic image of Louis G. Lowery is in the middle. Annie M. Jan. 6, 1928 is inscribed on the right and a blank space below for addition of her death date. At the bottom in a slanted script is inscribed “In Loving Memory.” A small metal marker notes the final resting place of Annie Mildred Lowery.
