Located in University Cemetery, University of the South, this marble block etched with "CSA" (Confederate States of America or Army) appears on a grave of William Hines Tomlinson (d. 1878). A William H. Tomlinson served in a North Carolina regiment of the Confederate Army. In Sewanee, prior to and after the Civil War, he was postmaster and later a merchant.
