Green's View Road; a roadway memorializing William Mercer Green

The road is named in memory of William Mercer Green, who became Sewanee’s Chancellor in 1866 and served until his death in 1887. The road which runs alongside the tennis facility and golf course is now called Green’s View Road, however it was originally Mississippi Avenue before being renamed in 1941 when the first stone road signs were put in by Vice Chancellor Alexander Guerry. The Green’s View Road name was adopted because locals already referred to it in that way because of the view at the end of the road.

The street runs with the golf course's 9th hole along the right side and residential housing on the left.
