After the death of Mr. Rogers, Rollins College organized a large memorial service in honor of their most esteemed alumnus who had graduated from Rollins in 1951 with a degree in music. Rogers met his wife at Rollins who also graduated with a music degree. The memorial event was open to everyone, as Mr. Rogers was a friend to everyone. Mr Rogers was well celebrated for his contributions to humanity. Mr. Rogers believed his contribution to society was being a good neighbor. However, one important contribution by Mr. Rogers was his Civil Rights activism in the 1960s. Not only did he use his show to spread messages of good will and equality, but he also sued the Ku Klux Klan for using his likeness in 1990.
