Margaret C. Witherspoon was a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and beloved staff member at Davidson College, located in Davidson, North Carolina where she worked from about 2005-2012.

Margaret C. Witherspoon was born in Wingate, NC, near Monroe in a Christian household. She later got married and had six children. Although her parents only received an eighth-grade education, Margaret completed high school and all of her children attended college. Growing up Margaret wanted to go to the army. She also had a natural inclination to care for people and later desired to be a nurse and often documented caring for members of her family such as her grandmother and husband.
Margaret began working at Davidson College in 2005-2006 and remained there until 2012 as a faculty member of Building Services. In high school she received CNA training. Witherspoon worked as a CNA at Brian’s Center in Charlotte, NC. She also worked at the airport prior to employment at Davidson College. When her supervisor at the airport, Hassan Martin, began working at Davidson, Margret decided to come over as well.
Margaret was a very religious woman; her education is her ministry. The greatest thing she believes she was taught was how to love people, as it has gotten her through many obstacles and hardships in her life. When she had a problem she would always go to God and sing hymns. So when she would get treated unfairly at Davidson due to unequal pay, lack of mutual respect, and unattended injury on the job she would place it in God’s hands.
