Juanita Archie was a dedicated employee at Davidson College, in Davidson North Carolina, where she served the college community through varying jobs and was known for her integrity and culinary skills.

Juanita Archie was born on June 10, 1935, in Smithville, NC which is a small historic black neighborhood in Cornelius, NC. After completing high school, she moved to Fletching, NY, where she worked as a live-in caregiver for a family for three years before returning to her roots. She later returned to work at Davidson College.
In 1961, she began her career at Davidson as a cook for a fraternity before transitioning to the Union, where she met her husband, Billie Archie. She then joined the laundry service, mastering tasks such as folding, pressing, and even driving the laundry truck for several years. Her colleagues admired her caring nature and honesty, exemplified by an incident where she found money in a professor's clothes and ensured its return. She witnessed Davidson's transition from an all-male school to a coed institution, which eventually played a role in the elimination of this service.
Juanita also played a vital role in the community. She married Billie Archie on February 14, 1959, while he was a worker at Union and he eventually became the head cook at Davidson. Together, they had five children. Juanita eventually retired from Davidson College in 1997.
