Exhibit: Pro-Civil Rights and Reparative Memorials
The Locating Slavery's Legacies Database wants to capture the entire story of the Lost Cause narrative on college campuses in America. A part of that story is the people that fought back against the Confederate narrative on their campuses. Therefore, we built the database to also include Pro-Civil Rights and Emancipationist memorials. We have been calling these memorials reparative within our database, since we know that the were leaders on the campuses that we work with that want to heal the damage the Lost Cause and white supremacy has done to the landscape and culture of academia.
This exhibit highlights the reparative memorials that our pilot partners have added to the database thus far.
